2024-27 Using action research to bring about school and classroom development – Kazakhstan NIS. This extends teh work of SHARE to national level.
2020 – SHARE project leader. Establishment of networks of schools engaged in action research and research on impact in the Nur-Sultan city schools. Funded by the Akimat (Mayoralty).
2020 – 2022 Enabling Connected Schools – Pilot project in Birmingham LA and one Cambs school. To develop and research alternative practices focused on developed the whole school contribution to positive social and emotional development.
2019-21 Co-researcher with Sullivan, A. Johnson, B., and Slee, R. University of South Australia. Exclusionary policies and practices in Australian schools and the impact they have on vulnerable children.
2016-2020 Team leader of Educational Reform and Innovation group and PI to a major research and development programme at the Faculty of Education University of Cambridge. A programme of research on reform and development of teacher professional learning, institutional development and implementation in a range of international contexts.
2018-2023. Jinan Innovation Zone China. The establishment of a professional development infrastructure in Jinan City and researching the process.
2012- 2021. Collaborative research project on the implementation and roll out of the new curriculum in Kazakhstan + 2011-16. The research and development of educational policy and practice in Kazakhstan.
2017 – 2018. With the (CARA) Council for Displaced and At Risk Academics, British Council and Open Society Foundation. A collaborative enquiry with Syrian displaced academics into the state of HE in Syria pre and post 2011.
2016. Niger State Government. A scoping study to inform the development of a national training and infrastructure development for the professional development of teachers.

2018. For Winston’s Wish, UK. A review of the evidence of the impact of being bereaved as a child of a parent or sibling along with interviews with adults bereaved as children.
2018-2019. UNICEF Kazakhstan. An examination of out of school children in Kazakhstan and the development of an early warning system.
2015-16. With Prof Banarjee. Building emotional resilience in primary schools. Systematic review of the evidence on the efficacy of interventions for the Welsh Government Dept of Education.
2010-11. A systematic literature review on Research on Counselling Children and Young People. Review for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) evidence for effective psychotherapeutic interventions for children and young people.
