Work

What I do now

I am currently involved in running two projects.

One is called Enabling Connected Schools. It is workingwith a pilot group of schools to create alternative practices that put social development and building good mental health at the centre of the school’s processes, including teaching and learning. It draws on previous research studies on the school’s contribution to mental health with Nuffield – see The Supportive School, The Connected School and (2015) Promoting Emotional Health, Well-being, and Resilience in Primary School.

The second is the SHARE (School Hubs for Action Research in Education) project in Astana city in Kazakhstan. This is now in its third year and is the development of networks of schools in the city focused on school improvement through action research. This builds on my work establishing the SUPER network at Cambridge and ten years of collaborating with educators and policy makers in Kazakhstan on the development of the schooling system.
